Las Vegas Night raises $18K for Rotary

The money will be used to finance this year’s Rotary Club projects — the health care project, the Saipan skateboard park project, the Kagman Community Park children’s playground and the Parade of Books, Babauta said.

These projects, he said, are just four of the numerous community projects the club wants to accomplish this year.

“All our projects are geared toward ‘Making Dreams Real,’ especially for the community children,” Babauta said.

“It’s a thumbs-up for the whole fundraising event, we have surpassed our original target of $15,000 net income,” event chairman and Rotarian Ed T. Salas told the Variety yesterday.

He said holding a similar fundraising event at least twice a year could do the club a lot of good but that is still something that needs deliberation..

“We can hold Las Vegas Night even twice a year but there are lots of issues that we have to consider before we can do that,” said Salas, who is also a member of the House of Representatives.

The Rotary Club printed a total of 8,000 tickets for the event and had to pay for the prizes and other expenses incurred during the event preparations.
