Ressy Ellis attacked Chamberlien Ngiralmau with a machete on March 1.Ellis was arrested and has been charged with one count of aggravated assault by the Attorney General’s Office on June 3.The defendant was served with a summon on June 30 and was ordered to appear before Supreme Court on July 7 at 1:30 p.m. to face his charge.The affidavit of Bureau of Public Safety officer Paul Kubarii submitted to the Supreme Court stated that the victim and the defendant were engaged in a drinking session on the night of March 1, 2008.The affidavit stated that while the two were drinking beers, they got into argument.The affidavit stated that during the course of argument, the defendant used a machete to assault the victim on the right side of his face and repeatedly on his forehead and right side of his chest.The affidavit stated that the defendant was interviewed on March 3 and he admitted of assaulting the victim.The affidavit stated that according to the defendant, he did it because the victim tried to stop him from going out to collect crabs.Ellis was also charged in 2003 for drunk and disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace in 2005.
