Tomokane made this season’s first grand slam, sending home Mario Sablan, Rey Guerrero, Robert Bansil and himself, to complete the Rangers’ six-run bottom of the fifth inning.
He went 2-for-4 and scored four runs.
Yesterday’s game also brought out this season’s highest number of homeruns.
Aside from Tomokane, Bansil and Falcon’s Mike Pangelinan also homered.
Kelvin Kapileo pitched strong nine innings as he held Falcons scoreless from fourth all the way to the seventh inning.
Catcher, Bancil went 2-for-4 as he hit a two-run homer in the first inning (2-0).
Both teams went scoreless in the second inning before Ned Norita hit two RBIs and JR Cuel walked and scored a run to help Falcons take the lead in the third inning, (3-2).
Mario Taitano however, scored a tying run in the bottom of the third, (3-3).
Both the Rangers and the Falcons’ concentrated the game in the mound as the fourth inning turned into a pitching war, holding both teams scoreless again—until the Major League record homeruns in the bottom of the fifth.
Mel Sakisat went 3-for-4, hit a double and scored a run.
With complete set of teams vying for this year’s SML championship, the playoffs start on Tuesday.
Pennant champion, Rock Steady and D9ers will meet for Game 1 of the best of three series.
Rangers and Falcons will see each other again on Wednesday and next Friday, as Rock Steady and D9ers are taking its second series on Thursday.
