Chin: “We need to prioritize Education”

Chin said majority of the students wants to stay with their parents during school year rather than with relatives, and they rather quit school than be away from home.Chin said because of this problem that a lot of children have dropped out of school that he launched his bus system program last year.“We have to do something about kids dropping out of school. Because home is an hour or two hours drive from school, the parents are sometimes force to send their children to their relatives house so that their children can go to school.”“Parents need to be with their children and help their kids with their homework. This is the main reason why we started this bus system. So now children from Babeldaob can go to school now because of our bus system program. Three buses transported some 80 students a day to school and back home later after class,”Chin said.Chin said that Education should be prioritized and legislators should appropriate more funding to the school system so that teacher can get proper tools to teach students.Chin said he is aware of the problem that students do not get their books on time and these are the problems that he want to address when he will be elected as the next president of the country.“We need to prioritize education. We’re having a shortage of teachers and we need to hire qualified teachers. Teachers, nurses and police officers are loaded with work but they are underpaid. If I will be elected, I will look into these things and will do something to help them or increase their wage,”Chin said.
