Senate Vice President Felix T. Mendiola, Covenant-Rota, and Senate Floor Leader Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian, are also off-island.
As the legislative secretary, Pangelinan, D-Saipan, has been the acting president of the Senate for nearly a week now after Reyes left for Washington, D.C. last Friday with Speaker Arnold I. Palacios, R-Saipan, Rep. Diego T. Benavente, R-Saipan, and House legal counse Ian Catlett.
According to the office of Reyes, R-Saipan, the CNMI lawmakers want to meet with officials of the Office of the Insular Affairs of the U.S. Department of the Interior to discuss federalization issues and funds for CNMI capital improvement projects.
Reyes will return to the island this weekend. (RM)
