RUN Saipan Alpha and Team Santa on Saturday shined in their respective divisions of the 2022 Northern Marianas Athletics Annual Christmas Island Relay as they claimed first place in a race from the Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio to the Last Command Post in Marpi.
In the open division, Run Saipan Alpha ruled the scene with a finish time of 01:19:52. The pace was led by Keith Ketola who averaged 4:55/mile; Sildrey Veloria, 5:59/mile; Tania Tan, 5:45/mile; Keith Longuski, 5:30/mile; and Heimanarii Lai San, 6:30/mile.
In second place were the Agape Torchbearers 1 who clocked 01:21:34 followed by Agape Torch Bearers 2 with a time of 01:28:14.
In the youth division, it was Team Santa that took first place. The Santas consisted of team captain Andrei Chavez, Pony Tang, Zhixiang Lin, Nolan Ngewakl and Marcus Toves. Their finish time was 01:25:13.
Agape Youth 1 finished second at 01:27:05 while Agape Youth 2 came in third with a time of 01:36:13.
