IMPERIAL Pacific International’s seven security guards received their salaries on Dec. 8, but the executive office staffers remain unpaid, IPI told Variety on Wednesday.
IPI has 14 active employees, including the seven security guards, but Variety also learned that a number of Chinese nationals who are not officially hired have been tasked to clear the vegetation at the site of the unfinished IPI hotel tower and villas. They also serve as security guards at night.
Unlike the seven security guards who are licensed by the Commonwealth Casino Commission, these Chinese nationals report directly to IPI Holdings major shareholder Cui Lijie. Their duties include securing IPI’s warehouses in Chalan Piao and Lower Base.
Because of a recent attempted theft incident at the IPI construction site, IPI Holdings’ major shareholder had assigned additional people to secure the casino-hotel, Variety learned.
