After ending up twice on runner-up positions in the 2006 and 2007 half-marathon events, Kabriel was able to land first this year, with the record 1 hour, 31 minutes, and 50 seconds.
Kabriel better his personal record last year which tallied 1 hour, 31 minutes, and 51 seconds – only a second difference.
However, Kabriel’s new personal record was far behind Eli Torgeson’s record of 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 10 seconds.
Torgeson was last year’s half-marathon champion.
Ronald Villafria came in second in the game, marking 1 hour, 41 minutes, and 55 seconds in the process.
Yosh Gabaldon finished third with 1 hour, 44 minutes, and 27 seconds.
The half-marathon also witnessed the third win of Mamiko Oshima-Berger in the women’s division. She finished with a new personal record of I hour, 35 minutes, and 27 seconds.
Maimi Shimizu followed suit with 1 hour, 38 minutes, and 27 seconds.
Monica Yamagushi went through the course, tallying 2 hours, 1 minute, and 44 seconds.
“I look forward to a more colorful marathon next year,” said Brad Ruszala, event proponent and organizer.
Meanwhile, Mancao tallied 26 minutes and 10 seconds, finishing first in the men’s division of the Banzai Memorial Fun Run.
Nate Mateo finishes second in the fun run event, timing 28 minutes and 34 seconds.
Fred Camacho came in third with a personal time of 30 minutes and 37 seconds.
Mieko Carey was the top finisher in the women’s division of the fun run event, clocking in 29 minutes and 48 seconds.
Melody Matson was the second placer with the record 39 minutes and 3 seconds.
Kathy Pagapular completed the run with a 39-minute, 38-second mark.
Together with the major winners, the event also recognized eight-year-old Megan Yost as this year’s youngest competitor.
Yost clocked 1 hour, 14 minutes, and 23 seconds in the fun run event.
