According to Don Bukurrou, ECSL commissioner, “Some of the participating teams will not be able to play this Saturday due pressing obligations of players that can’t be avoided.”
In addition, Bukurrou said ECSL has always been about unity and the promotion of friendships that go beyond the confines of the field. ECSL, he stated, “Is an opportunity for every participant to be aware of the needs of others and to provide them with support whenever and wherever possible.”The playoff games, if they were played this, would have pitted (Masters’ division) Ngaraard’s Redmen against the Melekeok’s Salty Boys and Ngchesar’s Oldiais against Ngarchelong’s Blue Sharks; and (Open division) Kayangel’s Angels against Melekeok’s Salty Boys and Ngiwal’s ChelidWith. The winners of the respective games would have played again for the championship titles soon after on the same day.According to Bukurrou, teams from Ngchesar and Ngaraard would not have been able to play this Saturday because of prior commitments and unforeseen players’ obligations. Through discussions with the leagues organizers and team managers, all of the games – playoffs, consolation, and championship games – have been rescheduled as follows: playoff games will be played this Sunday and the championship and consolation games will be played the following Saturday. The first game for both of the days will begin at 12:00 p.m.“I apologize on behalf of the organizers of the league and the participating teams for the games schedule changes,” Bukurrou said.“The changes are necessary to ensure the participation of everyone and to guarantee that the winners earn their title on the field in the presence and full participation of their opponents.”
