Taiwan legislators visits Palau

Wen-Chi Kung, kuo-tung Liao and Tung_Ming Chien are expected to arrive early morning today. The group will meet Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and some of the legislators here in Palau to exchange valued opinions.

The three legislators who were elected in January are members of Taiwan-Austronesian Island Nations Congressional Association. They represent local Austronesian people in Taiwan and are here to strengthen the friendship with Palau.The lawmakers will also meet Minister of State Temmy L. Shmul, South Paramount Chief Ibedul Yutaka Gibbons and North Paramount Chief Reklai Raphael Ngirmang, Queen Bilung Salii at the Cultural Center.The lawmakers will also visit two symbols of Austronesian culture in Palau—the main office of Austronesian Forum and Abai.They will also participate in the welcome banquet, which will be hosted by the Taiwanese Association.The lawmakers will also visit Palau’s Milk Lake, Jelly Fish Lake, Rock Island and several others famous sites.The legislators will be checking on Palau’s natural resources and the mechanism of its protection.The first hand observation and the data they will be collecting will serve as references for Taiwan’s legal engineering in the aspects of environmental protection and the development of tourism.The lawmakers will leave on September 1 and will be heading for Guam.The cultivation of indigenous elites and the preservation of Austronesian culture are two pillars of its indigenous policy in Taiwan.Kung, Liao and Chien as members of the Taiwan-Austronesian Island Nations Congressional Association will keep devoting themselves to the developing partnership between Iaiwan’s indigenous people and South Pacific island nations.
