Whipps-Kuartei team in a statement at the same time congratulated the team of Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and Sen. Alan Seid and Lawyer Johnson Toribiong and Del. Kerai Mariur who will face each other into the Nov. 4 general election.
“We respect the vote of the people. We would also like to offer our congratulations and best wishes to both the teams who will move on to the upcoming November general election for president and vice-president,” the statement said.The team at the same time encouraged the candidates to work together to raise the standard of living for the Palauan people.“We hope that they would see the value and the need to raise the minimum wage do that our people can adequately provide for their families and that will allow them to continue living with dignity and respect,” Whipps said.Kuartei for his part said that the leaders should work together to ensure that the Palauan people have a living wage.“We were never anti-foreigners or development, just simply pro-Palauan. After all who are we developing Palau for,” Kuartei said.The two said that throughout the campaign, they share their vision of making Palau one of the best and most successful island nations.“A successful Palau means that Palauan benefit from Palau’s success. We believe that real success is measured by maintaining a balance of improving the quality of life for the people of Palau by ensuring sustainable economic growth and development while preserving and protecting our vulnerable island environment a balance of the people, the economy and the environment,” Whipps said.
