With a total of 22 participants of different ages gathered for the open ocean swim challenge that comprise of two categories, namely the 200 meter and the 400 meter, It was Gibbons who got the title. An elite-level swimmer and represented Team Palau to the recently concluded Apia Games, didn’t look back as she was timed at 9minutes and 2 seconds to post her record as the first National Team swimmier to cross the finish line for the 400 meter. Following her are two other national swimmer, Liam Bornovski and Antja Flowers for second and third place, respectively.
On the other division, 18-yr.old Udi Bornovski captured the title for 200meter with a time of five minutes and 29seconds. Second place went to Torsten Schardt for a time of 6mins. and 14sec. Third place winner went to one of the youngest participant, 10 year-old Mesaod Ngiraikelau timed at 7mins. and 32sec.Also participating are the new members of the swim team, Jam Ketengel Domingo, Elsie Tellei and Ashley Lund. Non-members, Tomohiro Oda, Isaiah Madlutk, Yo Yamomoto, Rene Menz of Kramers Restaurant to name a few.PSA is thanking all participants and volunteers for another successful Independence Day Ocean Swim, including the Koror State Rangers, Fish n Fins for donating kayaks, Tlau Ridpath and Ush Luii, and all PSA members and their families for supporting the swimming program.
