Lady Blue Jays douse Hot Shots

THE Lady Blue Jays earned their third win in the ladies division of the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League by trouncing the Hot Shots, 14-2,  Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.

In the opening inning, the Lady Blue Jays slipped in a run as they took advantage of a Hot Shots error.

But the Hot Shots quickly equalized thanks to Rosie Saralu who reached home courtesy of Janica Lizama’s RBI single. In the second inning, both teams again scored a run each for a 2-2 deadlock.

However, that was the end for the Hot Shots who were silenced for the remainder of the game.

After a scoreless third inning, the Lady Blue Jays’ Bert Camacho and Christy Aldan earned an RBI each.

It got worse for the Hot Shots in the fifth as they failed to handle the ball with care, allowing the Lady Blue Jays to score seven runs for an 11-2 lead.

The Lady Blue Jays then solidified their dominance by adding three more runs in the top of the sixth to end the game, 14-2.

BDE also tasted victory by slipping past the Lady Legals, 8-7.

It was a fairly even match as both teams exchanged runs from start to finish with the Lady Legals drawing first blood int the top of the opening inning.

BDE then scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead, 2-1.

BDE continued to push forward with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but the Lady Legals fought back with two runs.

However, for each run made by the Lady Legals in the fifth and sixth innings, the BDE had an answer to remain ahead and secure the win, 8-7.
