FOR their huge contributions to the NMI’s overall performance in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games, local coaches and sports administrators were honored by the Northern Marianas Sports Association during its awards banquet on Tuesday night at the Hibiscus Hall of Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.
Named Coaches of the Year were David Barnhouse and Antonette Labausa, Jeff Race of tennis, and Manny Sablan of baseball.
Barnhouse and Labausa led the NMI’s weightlifting team to a total of 11 medals in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games while Race and Sablan also led their respective teams to medal finishes.
Traditionally the Administrator of the Year award is given to an individual or an official of one of the CNMI’s national federations, but this time, it was presented to all the nine federations:
Northern Marianas Athletics, Northern Marianas Badminton Association, Saipan Baseball League, Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association, Commonwealth Federation of Golf Associations, Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association, Triathlon Association of the CNMI, Northern Marianas National Paddle Sports Association, and CNMI Weightlifting.
