THE CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, with the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, in conjunction with the United States Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment Marianas, would like to inform the general public that the U.S. Navy EOD Detachment Marianas will be conducting detonation activity at Saipan Marpi Blow Pit.
The scheduled date and times are as follows:
Friday, March 10, 2023
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saipan, Blow Pit
Lat: 15°16’00.0”N
Long: 145°49’00.0”E
The general location of this activity will be at Marpi Blow Pit within 500 feet radius on all quadrants to 2,500 feet above sea level.
Marpi Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the duration of this operation.
Marpi Landfill, Banzai Cliff, Suicide Cliff, and Grotto will also be closed for the duration of this operation.
Due to the danger imposed by these activities, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios is strongly advising the general public especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators to stay away from these areas during the time and date indicated.
