BLUE Haus clinched the masters division championship of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League by defeating JSN Construction, 76-67, at the Koblerville gym on Sunday.
Known for their team chemistry and ball movement, Blue Haus used them to their advantage as they quickly established control in the opening quarter.
Elmer Esdrelon orchestrated the attacks and showed consistency on offense by putting up seven points while feeding Matt Buenabajo with six points of his own for a comfortable 19-10 lead.
But Blue Haus’ momentum sputtered in the second canto as JSN tightened their defense and closed most of the passing lanes while turning stops into buckets on the other end.
James Abuy and Alvin Villarin scored seven points each to cut Blue Haus’s lead, 38-41.
But Blue Haus maintained their cool thanks to the controlled pace of Junar Guiab and Esdrelon who combined for 16 points or 90% of their team points in the third quarter.
JSN made sure they did not fall behind without a fight as Jorge De Guzman and Abuy delivered the points to stay within a single-digit reach, 50-58.
Blue Haus, however, remained in control, taking the game inside with Guiab making his way to the paint to draw the fouls, and chip away from the free throw line to extend the deficit.
As the fourth quarter reached its final six minutes, JSN started to look for the quick answer with Jun Tabora sinking back-to-back triples.
But Blue Haus continued to drain crucial charity shots and eventually pulled away with the win, 76-67.
In the battle for third place, Vizion Insurance trounced Legends Elite, 121-78.
Awards
During the awards ceremony, the Mythical Team members received their trophies: Elmer Esdrelon and Fradel Sedilllo are the Best Guards; Jun Tabora and Junar Guiab are the Best Forwards; Jorge De Guzman is the Best Center; and Junar Guiab is the Best Coach.
Jorge De Guzman was named the season’s Most Valuable Player while Elmer Esdrelon was chosen as the Finals MVP.
The Sportsmanship Award was given to Legends Elite.
