SSHS Manta Ray Battalion cadets participate in International Coastal Cleanup

ON Sept. 17,  at around 7:30 a. m., Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray Battalion cadets participated in their first International Coastal Cleanup of the school year which took place at Pakpak Beach.

Two groups of cadets were formed. Group 1 was assigned to clean up the beach’s southern side. Group 2 focused on the north side.

The leaders kept track of the types of trash being thrown away while the cadets were cleaning up.

Plastics, cigarette buds, and glass bottles made up the majority of the trash.

At around 9:45 a.m., the Manta Ray Battalion cadets finished their mission. They reunited and gathered all the trash bags that needed to be thrown away.

The Manta Ray cadets are happy with their participation in the International Coastal Cleanup. The cadets benefited from learning how to protect our environment as well as how to maintain the cleanliness of our community.
