TWO underdogs outplayed the favored teams in the Thursday Division of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
Against VFW No Regrets, who are no. 4 in the team standings, the 9 Eleven Crazy Ballers, who are eighth and last in the standings, earned a stunning victory, 8-5.
At first, it was a fairly even match with both teams splitting the first six games for a 3-3 tie.
The Crazy Ballers then stepped up as individual players with Joseph Achas, Victor Formales and DJ Mansilungan notching a 3-1 run in the Singles 8-Ball game to seize the lead, 6-4.
Joel Bunag and Formales tried to keep the momentum burning by claiming the first round of the second Partners 8-Ball game, but No Regrets Joe Villagomez and John Reyes bagged the remaining round.
The Crazy Ballers then claimed the third and final Partners 8-Ball game for an 8-5 victory.
Winners, too
Another upset victory was claimed by the VFW IT&E Homeboyz, who are sixth in the team standings, by taking down the no. 2 team, the 9 Eleven Rebels 2, 8-5.
The Homeboyz established control in the second Singles 8-Ball game as Roman Rodriguez, Cesar Sangalang and George Lizardo pulled a 3-1 run for a 6-4 advantage.
The Rebels 2 fought back, splitting the second partners game, but the Homeboyz claimed the final Partners 8-Ball game to seal the deal, 8-5.
Bamboo Soudelor Construction remains at the top of the food chain after defeating the no. 3 team, Bamboo Kabalen, 10-3, while SCS Just Chillin’, who are fifth in the team standings, tamed the no. 7 team, Last Shot Eleven Tiger, 10-3.
