Mondala, the mother-in-law of Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez, said she will sue Cruz for “maligning her reputation, name calling and issuing unfounded allegations in relation to her work at the Office on Aging.”
“I say that’s a normal reaction based on fear of what we might uncover or have already uncovered,” Cruz said in an e-mail.
He said his group is looking into improper procurement practices at the Office on Aging.
According to the Taotao Tano leader, senior citizens and staff of the office told him about the improprieties and abuses happening at the Aging Center. He didn’t identify his sources.
“This is an ongoing investigation on our part,” he said. “I must remind this individual [Mondala] that the only interest we have in this matter is to hold those responsible and accountable for the continued abuses and disrespect for our senior citizens, to include the innocent certified and qualified employees who have been neglected [by the] management,” he said.
Mondala earlier said that since Cruz failed get a job from the governor, he had been critical of the administration’s undertakings.
But Cruz said he has no intention of working for a “corrupt administration.”
