According to Eucon president Christian Wei, Ph.D., the accreditation team’s full review is slated for Dec. 1-5.
Since Nov. 2005, when it was granted pre-accreditation status, Eucon has been working to secure full accreditation status.
“We have been given five years to accomplish this goal, but it took us only three years to reach this point,” Wei said. “Now the time has come, and we will expect the five-team members to come and visit us.”
Wei said the school is soliciting third-party comments on its accreditation and is inviting members of the community to also visit the campus during the accreditation review.
The Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, or TRACS, is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an institutional accrediting agency and is on the USDOE list of approved accrediting agencies.
TRACS is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
On Nov. 1, Eucon submitted its self-study report which included the institution’s evaluation of its strategic plans, financial audit, budget, assessment plan, reports, policies among other items.
The arriving evaluators from TRACS are Dr. David Owen, president of Pacific Islands Bible College; Dr. William Smallman, vice president and director of Global Training Baptist Mid-Missions; Dr. Joseph Paturi, president of Temple Baptist College; Dr. Barry Griffith, vice president of administration, Piedmont Baptist College/Graduate School; and Dr. Michael Windsor, professor at the Central Baptist Theological Seminary.
Eucon will be provided a draft copy of the team’s report and will be given the opportunity to prepare a response to all recommendations and suggestions prior to the spring meeting of the accreditation commission in April 2009 in Virginia.
