Records from PSS indicated a total of 6,032 ninth graders enrolled from school year 2001-2008 of whom 4,029 graduated in the last eight years.
For SY 2001-2002, PSS had 761 ninth graders of whom 415, or 55 percent, graduated.
In SY 2002-2003, PSS recorded a 2 percent increase as 422 students graduated from among the 746 former ninth graders.
A 68 percent graduation rate was noted in SY 2003-2004 — 575 graduated from the 848 former ninth graders.
There was a 71 percent graduation rate in SY 2004-2005 when 614 students graduated.
PSS had a 74 percent graduation rate in SY 2005-2006 when 670 received their high school diplomas.
But in SY 2006-2007, the rate dipped to 69 percent when 643 from 931 graduated.
Last school year, 2007-2008, the rate was 70 percent — 690 of 979 graduated.
PSS said graduation rate for SY 2006-07 did not reflect students who graduated in 11th grade while the rate for SY 2007-08 included those who graduated in 11th grade.
