House Bill 16-151, now Public Law 16-20, appropriates $32,000 of license fees collected from pachinko slot machines and poker machines on Tinian for its scholarship program.
Aldan, Covenant-Tinian, said the $32,000 will be added to the funds left for the municipal’s scholarship program last year.
“We have some ‘left-over’ money from the previous semester which is close to $50,000. Now that we have additional $32,000 appropriation for the purpose this will be a big help to our scholars,” he told Variety.
Aldan wants the scholarship money given “equally” to all applicants.
“We will always find ways to assist our students,” he added.
