A blessing ceremony was conducted by Fr. Jessie Reyes yesterday for their new office.
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela said the office at the back of the Division of Motor Vehicles used to be the minimum detention facility.
“This is good news for our police officers because the old building they’ve been using are in poor condition and no longer safe for them to work in,” Tudela said.
DPS patrol commander Sgt. Joe Saures said the new offices will house the different sections of the CIB — violent crime, domestic violence, general crime, juvenile crime, human trafficking, drug enforcement task force, and investigative support.
“The Traffic Section will occupy the other portion of the building,” Saures said.
DPS operations commander Sgt. Sylvan M. Rangamar said the new place will give them more elbow room for their daily tasks.
The Traffic Section and CIB relocated to their new offices on Oct. 27, 2008 from the old buildings that formerly housed the trial court.
The Police Academy, for its part, moved to the Kagman Community Center while the Fire Academy was relocated to the Kagman Fire Station.
