The Chief of Justice in his letter to Toribiong on Tuesday suggested to allow as many judges as possible to share the honor and privilege of the task—administering the oaths of office of newly elected national leaders.
The Chief Justice suggested that he will be the one to administer the oath of Toribiong while Associate Justice Lourdes Materne will administer the oath of office of Vice President-elect Kerai Mariur.Associate Justice Kathleen Salii will administer the oath of office of the Senate while Senior Judge Quay Polloi will administer the oath of office of the House of Delegates.Ngiraklsong on behalf of the Palau Judiciary also extend their congratulations to Toribiong, Mariur, Senate President Designee Mlib Tmetuchl and HOD Speaker Designee Noah Idechong.“The inauguration of a new government is always the high point after a general election. And so it is with your inauguration on January 15, 2009, we at the Judiciary look forward to the event with high hope and faith that our new government will continue to improve the quality of life of the people,” Chief Justice Ngiraklsong said in his letter.“We offer our best wishes as you begin the task of forming a government that will be responsive to the needs of the people,” Ngiraklsong added.
