Vice President Elect Kerai Mariur in a press conference said that the SP and the Independent Counsel Office “can be under one office.”
He said the transition committee is gathering information on the matter to see whether it will be feasible to put the two offices under one office.The Special Prosecutor position is still vacant after the Senate earlier rejected the nominee of President Remengesau.The ICO meanwhile is tasked with investigating the failure of the defunct Pacific Savings Bank (PSB).Mariur said an amount of $200,000 has already been earmarked for the ICO.
