On January 15, Mori met his old friend and colleague former Palau President Kuniwo Nakamura at the Palau Royal Resort (PRR).
Mori was in Palau as the Special Envoy of the Government of Japan and the head of the Japan government delegation to attend the inauguration ceremonies of the 8th Palau Constitutional Government.Mori was instrumental in working with Nakamura in the process of obtaining various important infrastructure development programs for Palau through the Official Development Assistance or ODA of the Japan Government, including the construction of the new Palau International Airport terminal building and the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge.The two leaders co-chaired the 2000 Japan-Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Summit (PALM 2000) in Miyazaki, Japan.Mori is presently a member of Parliament in the Japan Diet (Parliament).“The two friends continue to forge and enhance and close friendship and ties between their respective countries,” the press statement said.
