Letter to the Editor: To the governor and Mr. Muna

Why is the price of FUEL now being cited as an excuse to raise the power rates? Neither Shell nor Mobil  mentioned that the price of fuel will be raised anytime soon. What is going on governor? What happened to PUC and Georgetown and the hiring of a power plant expert from American Samoa?

Almost $500,000 of taxpayer dollars have been spent organizing the team of PUC, Georgetown consulting and a power plant expert but Power Plant 1 is producing a total of 7.5 megawatts only.

Ten  months away from the next gubernatorial election and the entire rehabilitation and repair efforts have been nothing but a complete failure and DISASTER for the people of the commonwealth.

In light of all that has taken place since the inauguration of your administration we have concluded the following:

1) The entire rehabilitation efforts have been diverted to the destruction of our power plant engines in hopes of securing privatization of our public utilities after your term has ended.

2) Vindictive vengeance against the people of the commonwealth, especially Taotao Tano, for uncovering your self-interest agendas with our public utilities.

3) Knowing that our government is in a financial crisis, millions of both local and federal funds have all been tremendously wasted with no light at the end of the tunnel.

Governor such failures and incompetence will no longer be ignored and tolerated by the people of the commonwealth.

The current emergency declaration expires Jan. 31, 2009. This is another reason to set aside PUC and Georgetown, ultimately raising the power pates and creating further mayhem and oppression against the people of the commonwealth who are deeply depressed over such incompetence in public office.

The next emergency declaration will substantiate and prove our conclusions regarding this administration’s self-interest agenda.

Ultimately, power rates will be raised solely by you.

As a reminder, your administration promised to reduce the power rates. In your last State of Commonwealth Address you promised that the “people of the commonwealth would see, as never been seen before, a total power generation of 87 megawatts output production.”

Today and 10 months away from the next gubernatorial election, the people of the commonwealth have seen no light at the end of the tunnel and a total combined power production of 7.5 megawatts generated by engines #6 and #8 is all this administration has to show for — on top of the sole sourced Aggreko back-up generators, which are here to STAY.

Governor, we leave you with this final statement.

Investigation into your administration’s self-interest and illegal activities involving all aspects affecting the people of the commonwealth have been hampered and ignored simply because you ultimately control all legal authorities in our homeland. But we promise you immediate and swift investigation into such activities at the end of your term.

Please understand that this not a threat but a PROMISE we aim to keep.

The people of the commonwealth have suffered enough!

GREGORIO CRUZ JR.
