Battle of the underdogs rages on

The Mayors Office stunned Pacific Island Club with 11 runs including Fred Robert’s grand slam home run  in the top of first inning before they proceeded with a three-run lead during last Tuesday’s game at the Capital Hill Softball Field.

After pitcher, Rueben Olgeril held Mayors Office scoreless in the second, PIC tried to catch up with nine base hits all the way to the fourth inning but the Mayors’ Office desperately needed to survive so they maintained the gap with runs-scoring base hits for their 16-15 victory.

Joe Tudela hit two doubles for his three RBIs.

Ernest Kani had two RBIs—the run-scoring singles in the decisive runs of the fourth inning.

Wally Emul added two RBIs including a run-scoring double in the first inning.

John Guerrero struck out only one.

DLNR 26, PSS 7

The Department of Lands and Natural Resources also needed to clinch for the playoff so they pounded Public School System, 26-7 handing them their fifth loss.

Esang Olkeril held PSS scoreless in the bottom of the first inning, while DLNR base runners scattered runs from base hits.

Jess Omar and Chris Alepuyo both hit a run scoring homeruns as DLNR continued to rampage in the third inning.

DLNR batsmen raged on in the fourth with eight base hits and two base-on-ball.

Pete Tegita had four RBIs and Tony Mareham added three RBIs.

Olkeril struck out one and gave up 12 hits.
