Fishguyz Scuba Charter donates $50,000 to Pacific Mini Games 2022

FISHGUYZ Scuba Charter has officially joined the list of supporters as a Gold Sponsor of the Pacific Mini Games 2022 which the CNMI will host on June 17-25.

Fishguyz Scuba Charter owner and operator Sydney Takahashi handed a check for $50,000 to the Pacific Games Council and Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 CEO Ben Babauta on Thursday, June 2, at Sugar Dock.

“Ben said that this will be a legacy; so, we wanted to be a part of it and working with these guys, it’s been really amazing,” Takahashi said,

In preparing the course for the va’a or canoe race events, Babauta noted that a lot of work was needed to be done.

Fortunately, he added, with the help of Fishguyz Scuba Charter’s staff of 10, they were able to produce outstanding results.

“A lot of [preparatory] work was being done out in the water,” Babauta said. “For Fishguyz to literally dive in the water, put the anchor on and pull down the buoy — it’s an art.”

He added, “They were able to [install] 350 buoys/anchors for eight lanes. We now have 36 canoes ready to launch.”
