WENO, Chuuk (Chuuk State Government) — On Monday, May 30, 2022 sixty-one individuals were repatriated into Chuuk State from Guam via United Airlines. All repats were safely transported to quarantine stations at Blue Lagoon Resort and at facilities by the Chuuk State International Airport for a 10-day isolation process. The repats were initially scheduled to be released on Friday, June 10, 2022.
On Saturday, June 4, 2022, per medical procedures, the quarantined passengers took their first Covid-19 test. The results showed that of the 61 individuals, three were tested positive. The three positive cases remain isolated from the rest of the repats, they have been given special medical treatment and are under strict monitoring by the Chuuk state health team.
The Chuuk State Covid-19 Task Force have increased the number of quarantine days from 10 to 14 following advice from medical experts.
The three Covid-19 cases are isolated in quarantine facilities, so they pose no threat to the public. But the Chuuk State Government said it has canceled the June 15 repatriation flight until further notice.
The Covid-19 Task Force and the Chuuk State Government encourage members of the public to stay calm while continuing to practice Covid-19 prevention measures. It is highly recommended that people complete their Covid-19 vaccinations.
