MARIANAS High School alumna Danika Shaye Calvo Aguon will graduate magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco on May 21.
USF is the city’s first university, established by the Jesuits in October 1855.
Aguon graduated from MHS in 2018 and will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a concentration in criminology, law, and society and a minor in Asian Pacific American studies.
She was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll list in the fall of 2018, and has received recognition throughout the remainder of her undergraduate studies.
Aguon is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an honors organization that recognizes and elevates high-achieving students, providing career and graduate school connections, leadership and service opportunities, and giving out more than $750,000 annually in scholarships, awards, and chapter funds.
Upon her return to the CNMI after graduation, Aguon said she is passionate about working in the field of restorative justice and mental health, especially as it pertains to service accessibility for inmates upon re-entry into society.
She is the daughter of Eva-Sophia Pangelinan Calvo and Frankie Muna Aguon, and the granddaughter of the late Gregorio Songao Calvo and Evelyn Pangelinan Calvo and former Rep. Francisco Concepcion Aguon and Tina Marie Muma Aguon.
