THE Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 Organizing Committee needs more volunteers, CEO Ben Babauta said Wednesday.
“We do have hundreds and hundreds of volunteers, but we still need hundreds and hundreds for the actual games,” he added during a press conference Wednesday in the Gilbert C. Ada Sports Complex conference room.
“We have a little over 500 volunteers and we are reaching out to you, sponsors. If [you can volunteer] for one hour or two, we’ll take it,” he added.
Babauta said not all volunteers will be working at the same time on the same day.
The Pacific Mini Games athletes from Fiji and Palau will be arriving here on June 9, and the rest are expected to be on Saipan on June 15 and 16, before the opening ceremony on Friday, June 17.
“This is where [the Public School System] and hotels will be in need of greeters at the athlete village and venues for practice,” Babauta said.
The CNMI is hosting the 11th Pacific Mini Games from June 17 to 25. Twenty countries and territories are competing in nine sports: athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, golf, tennis, triathlon, va’a (canoe race) and weightlifting.
