Aqua Resort Club and Saipan World Resort that triumphed in the opening game of the 2009 Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino Invitational Inter-hotel Basketball League ran into head-on collision last Monday and neither of the teams would give up in final quarter.
However, Aqua’s Gapor closed the gap in the fourth quarter as he blasted 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter including the three penalty shots he basketed.
World’s Kay Bernardo and Dennis Vinas set an early lead with easy two-points in the first quarter, (16-23) before Wowie Abuel and Banjo Basila stretched the distance in the second quarter, (38-56).
With Kelvin Fitial and Cidy Johanes Gyles in tow, Estolas and Gyles Ruluked trimmed it down in the third quarter, firing a total team score of 31 points against World’s 17.
Limiting World’s scoring hands to three pairs, Aqua came from behind with Gapor bombarding them with two-point shots for their 91-89 victory.
Hyatt 93, Fiesta/Grand 90
Chris Arreza exploded with three-pointers in the final quarter and scored a total of 31 points to secure their second win by defeating Fiesta/Grand, 93-90.
With only Jericho Cruz and Jack Lizama sharing burden in the first quarter, the Hyatt Regents found themselves buried in 10-point deficit all the way to the third quarter.
Chris Arreza who did not see action in the first quarter rampaged and rampaged in the final quarter firing 19 points.
