(DPS) — On May 25, 2022, at around 5:45 a.m., the Department of Public Safety received a call regarding a burglary and theft incident at the Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Susupe, Saipan. Police responded to the scene.

At the scene, police met with the caller who stated that he arrived with another individual, a woman, to open the church earlier that morning.
During this time he noticed that a window was left open but did not think anything of it until the woman mentioned that the TVs inside the cathedral were missing.
They then called for police assistance.
Upon further inspection, it was learned that two flat-screen TVs were removed from their mounts. One TV was left outside the church and was found to be damaged. The second TV was not found and is considered missing.
This case is under further investigation.
The Department of Public Safety would like to remind the public to be diligent when purchasing or when being offered a flat-screen TV from any individual.
