Associate Minister for Commerce and Industry Hans Joachim Keil, who is the Pacific’s lead trade negotiator with Europe, said he was disappointed that Grynberg’s contract with the Forum secretariat was not renewed.
Keil said he worked closely with Grynberg over many years and that he could “find no better.”
“I heard his contract hadn’t been renewed and I’m saddened by that,” he said.
“You know, I was hoping he’d remain on because he is a good person to work with for the Pacific Islands.”
Grynberg’s negotiations on behalf of small Pacific island states sometimes put him at odds with Australia and New Zealand.
