Agape tops team category of Star Wars run

AGAPE Christian School topped the male and female divisions of the 2nd CNMI Star Wars Day Run’s  “Rebel Alliance” team category on Saturday at American Memorial Park.

Among the four-person Agape Team 1 in the male division, Eason Tang was the first to cross the finish line, covering the 5K distance with a time of 20:54.39. Teammate David Zhao came in next at 21:05.21, followed by Jason Cao, 21:12.20, and Peter Hu, 22:10.94.

They won free movie tickets. “Shout out and a big thank you to Regal movie theaters for the movie tickets for our winners!” Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. said.

In second place was Agape Team 2. Joseph Li led the squad with a time of 23:58.67, followed by Peter Peng, 24:45.95; Caleb Dai, 25:19.29; and Stanley Zhang, 25:45.77.

In the female division, Agape Ladies 1 earned the top spot: Eunice Xu finished first with a time of 24:01.94; followed by Emma Pang, 25:07.87; Barbara Wang, 25:21.75; Lucy Hong, 26:45.73; and Elim Huang, 28:30.17.

In second place was Agape Ladies 2: Esther Zhuang, 27:38.06; Sunny Chen, 27:19.52; and Sunny Wang, 28:06.11.

“I thank Pastor Pang and the Agape team for aggressively supporting our event,” said Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. “It’s great to see them back on our race scene with Run Saipan. They are our first official winners in our Rebel Alliance team category and we hope to see them back again next year to defend their title as the fastest squadron. I hope Team Agape shows up at this Saturday’s 5K as well with the rest of Saipan’s competitive runners.”

Dela Cruz was referring to the Fit To Lead CNMI Tourism Month 5K Fun Run hosted by the Marianas Visitors Authority in collaboration with the CNMI Office of the Governor  and set for Saturday, May 14 at 6:30 a.m.

The fun run will start at Garapan Fishing  Base and follow Saipan Beach Road Pathway to the Japanese tank at Quartermaster Road intersection and back.
