Deleon Guerrero and Borja announced their team up at the former senator’s residence in As Perdido last night.
Borja said their team’s slogan is “Time for Change.”Deleon Guerrero said he will eliminate the fuel surcharge while Borja will focus on education.Deleon Guerrero said they are running because a lot of CNMI residents are already tired of seeing the same old people in the government.He said the people are looking for a leader who has a concrete plan in addressing the commonwealth’s problem, especially those of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.Deleon Guerrero, a former CUC executive director, said he has a very concrete plan to solve the power crisis.A Democrat turned Republican, Deleon Guerrero won a Saipan Senate seat in 1999 as a Reform Party candidate.He lost his re-election bid in 2003.Borja, a doctor of education, was fired as education commissioner by the Board of Education in June 2008.He taught at Marianas High School from 1994 to 1995 before transferring to Hopwood Junior High School in 1996, becoming its principal until 1999.In 2000 Borja was named associate education commissioner for administrative services.Six years later, by a 3 to 2 vote, BOE named him commissioner of education.
