Court to hear Sablan’s petition tomorrow

In a two-page order issued yesterday, Associate Judge David A. Wiseman said the status conference will start at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 223.

On Friday, Sablan asked the Superior Court to order the administration to disclose how much it has spent to pay the services of the Washington-based law firm Jenner & Block, which represents the governor in federalization lawsuit.

The administration has refused to provide the information Sablan is seeking through the Open Government Act.

Sablan said the court should order Fitial, Inos, and Baka to fulfill their obligations under the law and make available the requested materials within 48 hours of the court’s decision.

Sablan also asked the court to order the defendants not to destroy, alter or transfer the public records she has been asking for inspection.

Jenner & Block filed the lawsuit on behalf of the governor in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Sept. 12, 2008.
