At the same time, the group’s women’s national team is preparing for the Marianas Football Cup that will be held on Guam on March 14, according to Kentaro Imaya, general secretary of the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association.
Held twice a year, the preliminary games will be on Guam on March 11 to 15 to compete with Macau-China, Guam and Mongolia.
The winning team, according to NMIFA will advance to the semi-final competition that will be held in Tainan, Taiwan in August 2009.
The NMIFA presented its men’s national team members their jersey in the morning and the women’s national team members their tournament jersey in the afternoon prior to both team’s final practice game last Saturday.
Last Saturday, East Asian Football Federation President Junji Ogura’s inspected the practice game of men’s national team. Since it was his in the CNMI, Ogura’s visit was treated as a commemorative event for NMIFA.
