THE Public School System and Youth with a Mission Saipan on Thursday donated several items to the children who are in the custody of the Division of Youth Services.
DYS has nine children in its shelter and 13 foster children.
PSS Pupil Transportation Director Shawn San Nicolas and Youth with a Mission Director Rengesuul Yobech handed the donations to DYS Administrator Vivian Sablan at the Tanapag Youth Center.
PSS donated the $150 worth of lunch — McDonald’s snack coupons — it won in last month’s Spirit Week competition while Yobech donated several boxes of assorted items for children two to four years old.
Yobech said their donation was made possible by their partnership with Samaritan’s Purse which conducted Operation Christmas Child during Super Typhoon Yutu.
He said they donated items that will make the children smile while reminding them that Jesus loves and cares for them.
DYS Administrator Vivian Sablan said now and then, the community reaches out to the division to create partnerships that can help improve programs and services for the youth and children.
“We have many government agencies and community organizations that keep us in mind,” she added.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero said they are very thankful for the generosity of PSS and Youth with a Mission Saipan.
Anything that can boost the children’s morale and make them happy is always welcome, he added.
