Solomons hails competition in aviation industry

Lonamei this week told parliament his ministry has been concentrating very much last year in bring into parliament a Civil Aviation Bill 2008 which was already brought to parliament in December.

He said the government, while encouraging competition is also working closely with operators to improve infrastructure that could accommodate more international flights to Solomon Islands.

With regards to operational routing, the aviation ministry gave opportunities to operators to come up with their own routing plans on how they want to operate in the country.

“The government is encouraging operators to enter new routes which would enhance international trade,” he said.  

Meanwhile, Lonamei assured parliament that his ministry would also work closely with relevant ministries to produce products that would encourage international trade.
