Farewell to Kunio Nakamura, a man of honor

On March 12, during the first of the receptions, which was held at the Palau Pacific Resort, a number of former and current high-ranking government officials and other distinguished guest  – Vice President Kerai Mariur, Minister Jackson Ngirangas, Minister Harry Fritz, Minister Dr. Stevenson Kuartei, Minister Johnny Gibbons, and Senator Kathy Kesolei and former Vice President Camsek Chin, former House of Delegates Speaker Anthonio Bells, former Senate President Surangel Whipps, Sr., Dr. Minoru Ueki, Mr. Marcello Perientozzi, Paramount Chief Reklai Bao Ngirmang and others – congratulated Nakamura for completing his term of office and especially for the services he provided for the people of Palau.

A week and half later, the Peleliu State Government hosted the dinner at the Palau Plantation Resort for Nakamura, at which he received a number gifts – including a framed Peleliu State legislative resolution honoring him – as tokens of appreciation for his work and commitment to providing support and service for Palau, which the people of Peleliu have significantly benefited from.The dinner was attended by all of the members of the Ninth Peleliu State Legislature, former Vice-President Chin, former First Lady Debbie Remengesau, Delegate Jonathan Isechal, and other distinguished guests.During both of the receptions, Nakamura said that he could not have accomplished his work without the support of the people of Palau.  Nakamura said that he considers Palau his second home and his term of office may have ended, but he will continue to work to find ways to provide assistance and support for the people. He plans to return – to rekindle the spirit of friendship and cooperation that he has established with so many.
