In an advisory, Terry R. Bish of USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service said Vilsack will announce the approved 54 projects that will provide economic stimulus and benefit natural resource conservation in 20 states and the CNMI.
Jolene Lau, public affairs specialist of USDA-NRCS in Hawaii, said the Kagman watershed project is one of those projects.
The local media was invited to the teleconference at 11:30 a.m., EST, or 1:30 a.m. local time today, during which Vilsack will announce the approval of watershed funding under the stimulus law, or the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
CNMI Department of Land and Natural Resources Secretary Ignacio Dela Cruz said this “good news” will finally move the Kagman watershed project forward.
The watershed funding, the USDA said, will mean better water quality, more dependable water supply and less soil erosion across the country.
Local reporters will be able to listen to the announcement in the teleconference through the USDA home page at www.usda.gov.
