Salam Khan filed his complaint yesterday against Kalayaan Inc. which is doing business as Mangkok in Susupe.
He is asking the federal court to grant him relief to recover back wages and overtime compensation, compensatory damages in the amount for overtime wages paid to other employees, declaratory relief, injunctive relief, attorney’s fees and costs.
In his complaint, the plaintiff said the defendant hired him to work on July 13, 2007 at a rate of $3.55 an hour for 40 hours a week.
But the plaintiff said his employer did not give him overtime wages unlike the other employees.
He said he was not provided food like the other employees. He was the only Bangladeshi employee in the company.
The plaintiff said he was often teased for his age and denied equal rights and benefits.
