CPA Executive Director Efrain F. Camacho said certain steps have already been put in place just in case a traveler from an affected area has the virus.
He said two CPA staff members who met with the Public Health officials have already been briefed on how things will be coordinated between the responsible agencies.
CPA, Camacho said, will be working closely with Commonwealth Health Center and will follow Public Health’s lead.
He said there is no instruction to close any of the airports or seaports in the CNMI.
Cancellation of flights is also a drastic measure to make at this point, Camacho said, adding that airport authorities cannot just restrict passengers due to the alert.
He said CPA personnel are not trained to screen the health of passengers.
There should be someone from the medical profession who can give instructions when screening inbound passengers, he added.
Public Health will assume control of any incident involving the swine flu outbreak, Camacho said.
But community can rest assured that CPA stands ready to work with Public Health.
Camacho said “staying calm is critical.”
