Jin tops HANMI golf championship

Jin who won first place in the A Flight of last year’s Tournament of Champions, pared in most holes in the front nine, bogeying only in the hole 6.

“I just did my best shot,” the teenage-golfer said who also played in Flights A, B and C.

Jin beat his group mates, Jeff Taylor and Jess Wabol.

Taylor played well in the front shooting 2-over par 37 and struggled a bit in the back firing 3-over par 39 for a gross of 76 to win the second place.

Adam Hardwicke birdied many times in the back nine but had four extra putts in the Hole 18 and settled for third place on a score card play off against Wabol who fired 4-over par 40 in the front nine.

Edward Manibusan and Jess Taitano both fired 2-over par in the front and back nines for their tying gross of 76. Manibusan’s handicap worked for him as he won the first place in the score card playoff.

Nick Sablan shot 80 and settled for third place.

Sherlyn Jones bogeyed in most Peoria holes for the Ladies Flight and earned the most handicap to trim her net down to 73.2 and won the first place against Pacific Eagle’s Aya Matsumoto whose 9.6 handicap gave her 73.4 net.

Masaaki Nakamura fired 2-over par 38 in the front and improved to 1-over par 37 in the back to garner 75 gross to top the A Flight.

Jess K. Seman’s 1stroke under par 35 in the back fell short of compensating his 41 in the front to settle for second place.

Freddie Cataluna placed third as he shot 5-over par 77.

In B Flight, Tsukasa Kuribayashi shot 2-over par 38 in the front and back nines and garnered a gross or 76 to win the first place. Leina Kim shot 79 and settled for second.

In the C Flight, Jessie Atalig shot 42 in the front and 43 in the back nine to win the first place, followed by Tony Sablan.
