The outgoing Air Force Civic Action 09-05 worked on renovating the playground equipment which already rusty and dilapidated.
Master Sgt. Christopher Earnest said Palau Rotary Club who sponsored the building of the playground was approached by the team to offer their assistance to repair the equipment.“We want to bring something back to the community,” Earnest said.In order to finance the renovation, the team and the Rotary Club jointly held a walk and run event to raise funds.An amount of over $1,000 was raised from the event.Technical Sgt. Shane Merchant said that the equipment which included a swing, merry-go-round and seesaw were falling apart.Merchant said the seesaw has to be completely rebuilt and the top part of the merry-go-round bars had to be refurbished.The playground equipment were also repainted.The renovation was completed yesterday by the team and apprentices.Repair work on the playground started Thursday last week.
