Afternoon of entertainment from kids

During the launch, Veronica Fox, Vice-President of SOPP, announced the opening of their new After 3:00 Youth Mentorship program. This program is open every Tuesday and Thursday to youth 10-14 years of age. The program, designed to build character, focuses on teaching kids about the affects of alcohol and drugs, as well as, help them attain the tools necessary to ward off pressures to use.

“An Afternoon of Entertainment” was the theme of the party and that’s exactly what is was. Youth from the After 3:00 program performed skits and shared readings while belly dancers lit up the room with their choreographed routines and smiles. A five dollar admission fee was collected at the door for attendees over age 15 and donations were received for baked goods provided by the youth and their families. The event brought in $405.00 and the money raised will be used to help finance this year’s Summer Sports Camp. This year’s camp will be held July 27th -30th. “It has been great receiving positive feedback from parents and members of the community,” said Fox. “Even better, though, is the energy and commitment demonstrated by the youth themselves.”Seeds of Promise Palau was started in 2005 and received an official charter on March 17, 2007.
