CUC wants to install pay service kiosks at Mobil gas stations

THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is currently negotiating with Mobil Oil Marianas to allow the installation of pay service kiosks at Mobil’s gas stations on Saipan, CUC Chief of Administration Betty Terlaje said.

CUC plans to open four more pay service kiosks on Saipan, she added

“We are finalizing it,” she said.  “Maybe [we’ll install them] in Kagman or Tanapag, and somewhere in Garapan, and maybe Koblerville or Chalan Piao.”

Terlaje said the proposed arrangement will also benefit the gas stations.

“When someone comes in to pay their CUC bill, they can also gas up their car, buy drinks or items from the convenience store,” she added.

“The goal here is to put up pay kiosks out there so our CUC customers can conveniently pay their CUC bills at their leisure.”

Terlaje said the kiosks will allow customers to do three things: pay their bills — power, water or sewer; buy prepaid load; and view CUC job vacancies on the pay service interface.

“We plan to send Mobil Oil the draft contract by Monday,” Terlaje said. “The contract is now being reviewed by our contract specialist, and once the draft is approved by the CUC executive director, then it goes to Mobil Oil, and then Mobil Oil will review and then offer their terms. We want this to happen as soon as possible.”

Terlaje said CUC will also install pay service kiosks on Rota and Tinian.

“Mobil Oil will also communicate with the stations on Tinian and Rota — the stations there are not managed by Mobil Oil; they are managed privately,” Terlaje added.

Last year, CUC opened two pay service kiosks at its cashier and customer service office at Joeten Dandan.
