Choi sets net to beat in RGA July Ace

The qualifying title landed in Choi’s hand when the 18 handicap of Ray Tigilau who is already an RGA May Ace of the Month trimmed the gross down to the lowest net—63.

Choi exceeded by five strokes in the front nine but improved in the back firing 3-over par 39 to earn a gross of 80 which his 14 handicap pulled down to 66 net.

Tars Olopai trailed Choi by seven strokes. He was 4-over par 40 and 5-over par 41 in the front and back nines and finished with 73.

Asterio Tawanpiy fired 6-over par 42 in the front and improved a bit in the back swinging 4-over par 40 to settle for fourth with 74 net.

Also making it to the top five was Manny Mangarero who shot 84.

Jess I. Wabol shot closest to the pin in the Hole No. 7 and Jordan Kosam in the Hole No. 14.

Tom Tebuteb and Joe Wabol shot 76; Thompson Palik, 77; Tony Rogolifoi, Jordan Kosam and Sonny Flores, 79; Jess I. Wabol 80 and Joe Saures 82.

Meanwhile, RGA announces that the July Ace tournament will be held in conjunction with the Tournament of the Champions at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort on Aug. 1 and 2.

The scores that will be counted for RGA July Ace will those played on the East Course.
